Funding Programs
Municipal Restructure Assistance Grant Program
Municipal Restructure Assistance Grants are provided to assist communities which are in favour of incorporation/restructure. The grant amount is based on population. Transitional assistance is also provided to help with police costs where the new or restructured municipality has over 5,000 people. A parallel program from the Ministry of Transportation provides transitional assistance to municipalities who assume responsibility for roads.

Northern Development Initiative Trust - Grant Writing Support Program
Ensures that communities and First Nations within the Northern Development region will be able to hire a grant writer to access program and dollars from any funding course to provide needed investments in community infrastructure and services.

Resort Municipality Initiative
Was created to provide resort-oriented municipalities with new finance, development and business promotion tolls to enhance the resort sector in B.C.

Restructure Implementation Grant Program
Restructure Implementation Grants are provided to assist communities with the implementation of incorporations, restructures, and significant changes in local service structure, such as interim administration or transfer of improvement districts to local government.

Restructure Planning Grant Program
Restructure Planning Grants are provided to assist communities wishing to study the implications of municipal incorporation / restructure and to undertake the associated public consultation process. There is a maximum grant of $40,000 per project for each local government involved.

Urban Development Agreements
An Urban Development Agreement is a partnership between federal, provincial and municipal governments to collaborate when addressing broad urban development issues for specific cities. Whether it is inner city revitalization, strengthened innovation, or sustainable economic development, each urban development agreement is tailored to address the needs of the city it involves.
