Heritage Conservation
Preserving the past for future generations is a top priority for many local governments and First Nations in British Columbia. The RuralBC Secretariat has divided heritage conservation programs and information into the following topical subpages:
- Archaeology refers to information for handling historic or prehistoric peoples and their cultures by analysis of their artifacts, inscriptions, monuments, and other such remains;
- Heritage refers to information for dealing with the legacy of physical artifacts and intangible attributes of a community or region that are inherited from past generations, maintained in the present and bestowed for the benefit of future generations; and
- History refers to information for recording and celebrating the past events and times of communities and regions.
